You can create a PM template from the Quore desktop, allowing engineers to complete preventative maintenance inspections in real time from the Quore mobile app.
In this article, you will learn how to create and edit PM templates. Remember, only the owner of the template or a role higher than the owner can edit the template. Templates can only be managed from the Quore desktop.
How to Create a PM Template
Watch the video below to learn how to create a PM template from the Quore desktop app, or follow the steps below.
1. From the desktop PMs app, click the Templates button. Once in Templates, click the green + icon to create a new template.
2. Fill in the Name and Description.
- Pro Tip: The Description shouldn’t include the steps, just what you want to convey to the person performing the PM. The second page will give you the opportunity to add Categories and Steps.
3. Use the dropdown menus to select the template Owner and Type.
4. For the Applies To dropdown, you can select Area Type, Item Type, or Text. Selecting Area Type or Item Type will connect the template to your Inventory app.
- Pro Tip: If you select Item Type, you will also have the option to create a PM for each item or create only one PM that accounts for all items.
5. You can select the Frequency and set a reminder before the due date. The reminder will determine when it appears on the To Do List.
6. Select the property(s) to which the template should apply. If you only have one property associated with your login, it will appear automatically.
7. The Add Resource field allows you to insert a link to additional instructions or steps for completing the PM, if desired. Add the resource name in the Title field. Uncheck the Active box if you would like the template to show under Inactive templates.
8. When finished, click Create Template.
9. After clicking Create Template, you’ll be directed to the Manage Details page, where you will add the steps for completing the PM. Type the instructions in the Name your step… box and click Enter on your keyboard to save. Repeat to add all steps.
- Pro Tip: Enable Required to make the step(s) a completion requirement for the PM. Leaving Default to Pass on will automatically mark the step with a checkmark.
10. Click the Add Category button to create categories for your steps. For example, in a guestroom PM, you might create categories such as bedroom, bathroom, and living room. While adding categories is optional, adding steps is required.
- Pro Tip: Choose the category listed under the step’s name to place the step in that category.
11. Continue adding categories and steps as needed until your template is finished.

Corporate Controls
Corporate users can flag a template as a Corporate template by switching the Corporate switch on above the Name field on the Create Template page. Flagging a template as a Corporate template will trigger the appearance of a green C beside the template name. Only corporate users have access to edit corporate controlled templates once they are created.

Corporate controlled templates will have the following options at the bottom of the Create Template page:

- Auto Apply – Applies to all new and existing properties within that management company.
- Allow Copy – Enables users to make a copy of the template.
- Required – Restricts the ability for the template to be removed from the property.
